Katatonia

Twenty Six November 2010 was the date chosen by the Swedish Katatonia return to Portugal. After their poor performance in Vagos Open Air 2009, it was the turn of the walls of the Incredible Almadense receive sound Doom Metal / Alternative Rock played by the band. Katatonia has been accompanied by Before The Rain, one Portuguese Doom Metal band , which was intended to begin the task of the first concert of the night.

Even with a little audience composed, Before The Rain began their action. In approximately one hour concert, the band proved worthy to be there to open the hosts for Katatonia Showing  to be very cohesive and possessing an excellent technique live.

Throughout the concert were notorious certain technical problems, particularly in terms of sound, for a number of times the sound of the guitars drowned out Gary Griffith altogether, while a shortage of light left the stage several times virtually in the dark. Although little communication, the band managed to gradually warming the environment and disinhibit audience that had shown very quiet and reticent at first.
After concluding the presentation of this band, one can say that was a wise choice inviting Before The Rain as the opening band, as the sound of these is fitted in perfectly with Katatonia.
After the exchange of material and sound check, the Katatonia, with two new members, Per Eriksson (guitar) and Nille Sandin (bass), both session musicians, went on stage at twenty-two hours and fifteen minutes.
Quite acclaimed, the band began its performance with the song Day and Then the Shade of his recent work "The Night Is New Day." Solved the technical problems that occurred earlier in the concert, the band performed a much more caring environment, where lighting, for example, had improved greatly. For nearly two hours, Katatonia, gifted the audience with a setlist quite settled in their last three albums, "Viva Emptiness", "The Great Cold Distance" and "Night Is The New Day", leaving aside your toughest jobs as the song from the album Brave, Brave Murder Day, "which would certainly have been very well received by the audience.
The highlights of this a Swedish band  occurred with songs like "My twin, Soil's Oil, and Evidence, in which the audience sang enthusiastically following the band's lead singer, Jonas Renkse, which was very communicative throughout the concert.
The powerful July was the song chosen to close the original setlist, then they left the stage for a brief pause.
It was with the sound of the first chords of the song For my Demons from the cd "Tonight's Decision" of 1999, that the band opened the encore, continuing it with  forsake, the first song from her latest album "Night Is The New Day." With Leaders from the fantastic album "The Great Cold Distance", the band finished its amazing and intense action that night.
In short, despite some flaws of the guitarists and vocalist lost his breath in some songs, the band did a good job. Katatonia, revealed tonight, to be a band very solid, united and able to create good sound live, not differing too much from what it's produce in a studio. It also highlighted that the Swedish collective  interacted both among themselves and with the public, especially at the end, where the band members greated those present and distributed the setlist and reeds, before finally leaving the stage.
In a concert sure to be remembered by fans of Katatonia.
